FB/IG Live? Replay? Story? It’s okay to be confused

The developers at Facebook made it easy for you to know what the hell you’re looking at

If a stream is live, it’ll say “LIVE” (in a bright color) above your friend’s name in the Stories row. This is true for both Facebook and for Instagram. I like this because there’s no confusion. If there’s a replay of a livestream, it’ll show up as a replay button in a vivid color above your friend’s name also in the Stories row.

Stories are ALWAYS replays whether they’re a minute old or 23 hours old. And they’re of course in the Stories row, along with livestream replays and true livestreams — “One row to view them all.” It’s okay to be confused. It’s not okay to stay confused. #kidding

If you need help creating a Facebook Live, an Instagram Live or a Story on either Facebook or Instagram, look at this how-to video. Hope you’re having a great weekend. It’s snowing in Manhattan! . . . Below are two articles I recently wrote: One is an interview, the other a book review. Clicking on the image should redirect you there ⬇️⬇️

My response: Remember how some people were sad that Snap’s Spectacles were only sunglasses and not prescription eyewear? Well, Snap can do some research to see if demand (if there was any to begin with) has grown. If so, they might think about partnering with LensCrafters, etc. I recall one tweet from LensCrafters saying they were in touch with Snap. It’s almost a year old but I put the tweet below.

And finally, a company who knows that excess tapping leads to a bad user experience for buyers. The 3-year old company is named @Button and they’re trying to make the path to [mobile] purchase contain the fewest taps possible. Thanks Mike

On Saturday, August 19th, WWE Superstar John Cena and Junior Achievement of New York attended the Cricket Cares anti-bullying summit to share stories and offer tips on how to prevent and/or defend themselves against all types of bullying. The event, hosted by Cricket Wireless was a unique day for children in the lead up to WWE’s SummerSlam at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Thanks for the invite! Facebook Live replay: Click here

Cena surprised the children to talk about his experience being bullied as a child, how he overcame and how they can leverage their experiences as motivation. The kids in attendance also visited SummerSlam autograph stages to meet talent and marvel at memorabilia. Additionally, everyone experienced special virtual reality technology, and engaged in a tech and an anti-bullying conversation with Cricket Wireless President John Dwyer. According to a recent AT&T and Tyler Clementi Foundation study, nearly half of New York City metropolitan area teens have experienced cyberbullying in some form, and eight out of ten say they know someone who has experienced cyberbullying.
