On Saturday, August 19th, WWE Superstar John Cena and Junior Achievement of New York attended the Cricket Cares anti-bullying summit to share stories and offer tips on how to prevent and/or defend themselves against all types of bullying. The event, hosted by Cricket Wireless was a unique day for children in the lead up to WWE’s SummerSlam at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Thanks for the invite! Facebook Live replay: Click here
Cena surprised the children to talk about his experience being bullied as a child, how he overcame and how they can leverage their experiences as motivation. The kids in attendance also visited SummerSlam autograph stages to meet talent and marvel at memorabilia. Additionally, everyone experienced special virtual reality technology, and engaged in a tech and an anti-bullying conversation with Cricket Wireless President John Dwyer. According to a recent AT&T and Tyler Clementi Foundation study, nearly half of New York City metropolitan area teens have experienced cyberbullying in some form, and eight out of ten say they know someone who has experienced cyberbullying.
